Ok I know a lot of people take these reviews with a grain of salt so do I but when my daughters big screen died I felt for my grandkids so she inherited my Samsung active 3d 61" TV.I had 6 pair of glasses witch were never enough.I then thought why not a passive tv?I purchased the LG 55lm6200 from Amazon.com I currently have 17 pair of glasses and trust me this is the best 3d and 2d tv I ever owned.I am somewhat of a perfectionist and the picture is to die for grant you the tv sound is tiny and needs a sound bar or surround system but add that and I know you will impress your friends and family and yourself for manny years.

I have been researching TV's for a while. LCD, LED, Plasma oh my! I have a basic 50" LCD in the bedroom, but wanted something with a little more punch for the living room. This is definitely the punch! I couldn't imagine watching TV at home with glasses on (for 3D), but after a few minutes of some incredible 3D from Netflix I forgot I had them on. Wifi set up with ease on 5GHz dual band router that is upstairs. I really like the Magic Remote but I put the LG TV Remote app on my phone and it works flawlessly. Haven't used it with my tablet yet. I posted to Facebook from my TV last night for the first time...while watching TV. The Social Media app (I think that's what it's called) let's you have them side by side. Nice!

I have played movies from USB, Netflix, and streamed from my computer all without any flaws. This plays a wider range of files than a media player I previously purchased for my other TV. I've used the web browser and it's faster than my daughter's laptop. Checked out YouTube, installed an app to play chess, the only thing I haven't found is Amazon Prime but I knew that from reading reviews here before I purchased. There is way too much to praise in this review and way too much I have yet to experience.

I'm slowly learning how to get rid of the Soap Opera effect, thanks to some other reviews. The TV's sound was actually pretty good considering the slim size of the set. But I connected a Boston Acoustics TVee25 soundbar to make the experience even better. I wanted to connect my older surround sound system but this set has no analog output. And it shouldn't!

This is my first 3D/Smart TV and it wasn't my first choice. I had reserved a Panasonic for pick up, but met with an informed salesman (which is rare these days) and he was able to expound on the research I had already done. And I am grateful he did because this model wasn't even on my list. This is way more than a TV and I am extremely pleased! It comes with 6 pair of glasses and I just ordered some more - my two year old is having a hard time keeping them on.

I was going to mount this on the wall because I don't like TV stands. But even the stand on this is nice. I have it on a black table and it almost looks like the TV is floating above the table. It only swivels 10 degrees each direction but that's not an issue for me. Plus, I stood across the room and "tested" how well I could see at angles and it looked good to me until I was at 180 degrees of course.

I'm writing my review because I was helped tremendously by the reviews here. After the salesman showed me the LG 55LM6200 I came here and started reading. Thank you all for taking the time to share your experience. The only reason it's not 5 stars is because nothing is perfect. But this is close. Lol. I hope this helps someone.

Beautiful tv with beautiful picture. Ordered my 55 inch lg from amazon. Took a few days longer than expected to arrive. Homedirect had my led tv a week b4 they decided to deliver. Upgrading from a 46inch dlp projection tv whose colorwheel finally gave out. Serious increase in picture quality. Intuitive magic remote and software. Have my lg on a stand...very wide at its base 32inches across. beautiful sleek profile blends well into the room.
No amazon instant video with this smart tv but hulu and netflix sinc'd up without any trouble.

This review is from: LG 50PA4500 50-Inch 720p 600 Hz Plasma HDTV (2012 Model) (Electronics)
Owning a SONY Bravia LCD and a Panasonic Viera plasma I knew I preferred the plasma and decided on this LG 50-inch for its hard to beat price. I considered it a secondary TV to my larger 1080p Panasonic so didn't mind this one's 720p resolution. After living with it for a few weeks, I'm happy with that decision and I would rate the picture very highly, with a couple minor reservations.

Some say you can't tell the difference between 720 and 1080, but I definitely can see the individual pixels when I'm within a few feet of the screen, and there is a slight difference on small, sharply edged images, like the ESPN screen crawl for example. If it's your habit to sit five or six feet from the TV you might want to spend extra for a 1080; but the farther you get from the screen the less difference between the two. At 10-12 feet this is an excellent picture, very close to my 1080 Panasonic.

The other niggle is that the screen is highly reflective, which can be annoying in brightly lit rooms. The picture itself is not to blame -- it is as bright and vibrant as my SONY Bravia.

There is a handy setup menu for adjusting the picture, Picture Wizard II, which will get you very close to ideal and there are plenty of adjustments to tinker with to get it how you like it from there.

I've read that LGs can't compete with Panasonics in black levels, but I don't notice a difference on my sets, and other than the subtle differences mentioned above, the two are extremely similar.

The big scare anyone looking for a TV will have is the 720p. Won't your TV experience be ruined? The answer is maybe.
First thing to consider is the TVs distance. If you are doing to be watching a TV of this size at lets say 8'or less 1080vs 720 would be noticeable. >8ft you probably couldn't tell unless you are some sort of TV guru.
Second thing to consider is the content you intend to view the most. Except for your home blu-rays/game consoles or some Nexflix, your TV never gets a 1080p input. Your HD cable/dish is 480-720. Hulu is also 720p as is much of Netflix. All that being said, your intended use of the screen will determine if the 720 would affect you. All that being said, unless you intend to use the TV for a game room or a home theater, you probably are fine with 720 as most your content is less than 720.
As far as this TV goes, like all plasmas the picture is great and you can't go wrong. The screen, for this price is also fairly thin. The bezel is also fairly small giving this TV a much more expensive look. I like this model because it is not a smart TV, which I advise avoiding. Smart TVs are nice, but a problem with the Smart feature is also a problem with the TV. If you instead use a Roku or similar device with your TV a problem with the Roku is isolated to the Roku.
The only real negatives I have against this TV is the connections. I would like more side connections and more HDMIs. Overall this is a great buy though and don't pay extra for the 1080p that you probably don't need.

First of all, for those people that are not familiar with LG and think it is an "off-brand", think again. LG Electronics is a Korean company that began as two different companies: Lucky brand appliances and GoldStar electronics. When the two companies merged, they became Lucky-Goldstar or LG. LG is the second largest manufacturer of televisions in the world, second only to Samsung. Together, they dominate half of the world's display manufacturing. Screens manufactured by LG Display are used in monitors sold by Dell, NEC, ASUS, and even Apple for their Macs and iPhones. To call the 42PA4500 an entry level plasma would be like calling the Nissan Maxima an entry level car. Sure, compared to the Infiniti M-Class it is an entry level car but on its own it is more than adequate. It has all the bells and whistles that one would expect from a top-of-the-line television, such as variable picture and sound modes, a thin bezel, swivel stand, ambient light sensor, and pixel orbiter to prevent burn-in. There were no issues on arrival, such as defective pixels or loose connections. The price, of course, was right. At $497 all in for a 42 inch plasma there really is no going wrong. Yes, the 720p resolution can be an issue for some. But like they say, at this size you really can't tell the difference. I find that the difference, compared with the LG LCD in another room, is that standard definition channels look slightly fuzzier. When watching HD there really is no difference. This is a 2012 model if I'm not mistaken, so many of the issues with plasmas have been resolved. There is no screen door effect, and there is no real need for a break in period, although I am limiting my first 100 hours of viewing to HD channels without black bars and without little logos in the corners, set to a low contrast and brightness level. The screen is very reflective, however, so any lights will be visible on the screen. The downward facing 10-watt speakers sound best when the set is on a table rather than mounted on the wall, so the sound is reflected off the tabletop.

Our box TV died, so we finally entered the flat screen market. (Our kid's neighborhood friends can stop laughing now every time they come over.) Buying on a budget, we were looking for a 47"-55" television for around $500.00, though we were willing to spend up to $750.00. After a day of research and shopping we settled on this TV, and we are very happy with the choice. We paid $429.00 for the set and the picture quality is great, the television is sleek and elegant, and the stand swivels and blends in with the set just fine. It's a perfect fit for our modestly sized family room.

At first I was concerned about the 720p resolution, but after reading reviews we were assured that picture would be fine and compared to other televisions the difference would be indistinguishable unless you were two or three feet away from the screen looking at text. Sure enough, we have the set and the picture quality is excellent. I prefer the plasma sets over the LED models. To me the picture is more vibrant with the plasmas, and that is definitely the case with this LG model.

This set is bare bones. Only two HDMI ports and one USB. But that's not a problem for us. We are able to hook our pc to the TV and that provides most of the features that a SMART TV would provide. (SMART TV? Has there ever been a more funny oxymoron?) I do not find the bare bones aspect of the television to be a problem since we are minimalists. In fact, I like how easy this television is to figure out. The remote is very intuitive and so is the operation of its different modes. We wanted a television that offered a big screen with outstanding picture quality for the best price possible. I believe we found that with the LG 50PN4500. It doesn't make coffee, it can't iron our clothes, and it won't take the angst out of my teenage daughter's life, but it does make television viewing a genuine pleasure.

Our family watched Les Miserables last night, and the sound quality was very good and the picture was outstanding. A wonderful viewing experience for the four of us.

I bought one of these TVs then bought 2 more because I liked the first one so much. I have been waiting for the quality and price to get into my price range and this TV meets both expectations.
The color and picture are great. Only plasma TVs come with 600Hz refresh rate therefore the actions shots are never blurry. Plasma TVs are difficult to find but I believe they are the best overall. This is the 2013 model so I just presume it has updated features from previous year models.
I hung these on the walls in the bedrooms with a $79 multi-position wall mount (sku 364487)from Lowes. This made the perfect combination. A stand is included free with the TV if you want to set it on a table and save money by not buying a wall mount.

I was looking of a flat screen T.V. to replace an old CRT and this is the third attempt to find something that is budget friendly and quality.

After following a CNET review I tried to the Samsung PN43F4500 plasma. The picture and sound quality was great but the T.V. as a whole was unattractive and I didn't like the available settings so I took it back and tried the LG 42LN5300 LED-lit T.V. Which was a much better looking, but, despite being 1080p resolution, the picture quality was horrible, there was noticeable motion blur and the sound quality was unacceptable. However, I did like the available settings. This finally led me to one of the few plasma's LG still offers and I couldn't be happier.

The picture quality is awesome, and the sound is as good as you could expect with only two 10w speakers. This is not a smart T.V. so it doesn't have all of those extra features I'd never use. It hooks up easily to my computer via an HDMI cable and that gives all the "smart features" I need. I can't see any pixilation with the 720p so don't let that scare you away. The T.V. has great construction compared to the other two I tried. This one has actual steel casing on the backside of the T.V. compared to the plastic the other LG and Samsung had.

The Swivel stand is also another great feature that the other two lacked. The quality of this T.V. just feels well above any of its competitors. One other thing I like about this T.V. is that the on T.V. controls are located on the side of the T.V. instead of behind it, so you can actually see the buttons you are pushing. I do use these buttons and I was rather frustrated at not being able to see the buttons I was pushing on the other T.V.'s.

On short notice I had to replace a very nice Samsung 26" LCD HDTV. My space required nothing wider than 28"...so I was limited in choices...and shut out of the most common 1080p 32" units available.

I purchased the 29" LG LED TV.

Pros: It is cheap at around $300. It fit the space I had...the TV was 26.3" wide. The "pros" end there.

Cons: The screen resolution is worse than you would expect from a 720p resolution on satellite (DirecTV).

The picture adjustments, although aided by a nice on-screen app, are clumsy. The results from the app make you want to try it yourself for color and contrast balance.

The instructions and documentation are very poor. I called Amazon tech support, which provides 30 days of free advice on this unit. Even they had no documentation for the unit.

The component inputs and outputs are very bare bones. In fact, the unit provides NO AUDIO ANALOG output. Therefore, you can forget about piping this into your media center receiver. The downside of this is that the speakers on the TV are subpar...so you better be using this in a small room.

Compared to the 8 year old Samsung I was replacing, the interfaces available on this LG were primordial. Did I mention it was CHEAP?

The stand is not adjustable, so that if you need to center the unit in a media cabinet, you just need to stack up some books. The overall styling is very generic...

Over all, if you have time to consider other units, do so. There is no reason to waste time on a unit like the LG when better 1080p units should be available soon in this size (29") class.

Amazon gladly offered to take the unit back, but had no replacements in the size range. Maybe its time to turn off the tube and do some reading.

Thi is a very basic 24" TV best suited for single-purpose use, such as watching TV in a kitchen or garage. The remote feels cheap, but has all of the necessary functions and the on-screen setup is easy enough. I like the channel add/delete/block feature, so you can easily remove certain channels from your path. This TV was under $200 on Amazon when I bought it and I thought the unit met my expectations when I received it. It's a 720p unit, but can easily produce 1080i picture, which will suffice for HD cable setups.

The tv is everything I wanted and more. I researched tvs for 4 months and decided to go with this one. The design is sleek. The picture is sharp. It's easy to connect to Internet and Netflix is great. At first I hated the smooth motion effect but my directv guy told me to stick with it, so I did. Now I like the effect even though when friends come over they ask me to turn it off. But for sports it works for me and others. I def recommend buying this lg. One con is the sound but I can't expect Bose sound quality from a very thin tv. The sound is not bad but sometimes voices are hard to hear over background noise. I've tweaked the settings and it's helped but that would be the only con for this nearly perfect tv.

This review is from: LG Electronics 55LA6200 55-Inch Cinema 3D 1080p 120Hz LED-LCD HDTV with Smart TV and Four Pairs of 3D Glasses (Electronics)
I received this TV yesterday, and my initial impression was that I found exactly what I was looking for. Even though it's not an 'ultra-slim' model, the back is tapered and makes it still appear pretty thin.

Pros:
-Setup was incredibly simple.
-Picture quality is almost perfect (also addressed in cons).
-3D is impressive, and much cooler than I expected it to be.
-Sound is better than the reviews on here led me to believe. Not sure if it has to do with mounting the TV vs. placing it on a stand, but mine is sitting on a stand about 10" from the wall. While I agree that it doesn't produce sound system-quality audio (does any LED TV do this?), this TV is far better than the one it's replacing.
-Smart features are pretty sweet. I didn't even realize that this could play and stream most video files, so I'm able to watch all of the content saved on my PC with minimal effort.
-Lots of settings that can be changed to get exactly what you want in terms of picture quality.

Cons:
-Unfortunately, I drew the short straw and ended up with a vertical red line running down my screen. It's just one of those things that can happen...As always, Amazon was quick to offer up a replacement or return, so I have another on the way. While I'm not looking forward to packing everything back up, I'll give this specific model one more shot, and update my review accordingly.

UPDATE 8/5: New TV was dropped off this morning. So far, picture looks flawless this time around (no vertical lines, dead pixels, etc.). I'll test more extensively over the next few days just to make sure, but I'm upping my review to 5 stars. The built-in web browser works wonders for bringing up a site like deadpixeltest.net to check the display. Also, for what it's worth, CEMA delivered this time instead of Pilot. The delivery guy assembled the TV, placed it on my stand, and waited while I checked to make sure everything worked. Pilot's delivery guys only opened the box, and I had to test it while still sitting in the bottom styrofoam.

Beautiful picture, smart functions are simple and functional, the free year of MLB works, and last night we watched Jurassic Park 3D and I was not expecting the 3D to be so good. Beautiful is the only way I can describe it. I feel bang for buck this is an excellent choice for anyone.

This review is from: LG Electronics 47LA6200 47-Inch Cinema 3D 1080p 120Hz LED-LCD HDTV with Smart TV and Four Pairs of 3D Glasses (Electronics)
I bought this TV (the 47") to replace an older LG 42" LCD that I broke. I was looking to stay with LG since my last TV was great, and I preferred the passive 3D just because I don't want to pay an $50-$90 for a technology that will be lightly used at most. The 2D to 3D up-convert is just a bonus that makes it more usable.

Pros and Cons below, but one feature I was not prepared for that has been great, LG Cloud. Its a free 5Gb video, 2GB photo service. I can upload videos (including xvid) from my computer or phone and play via the cloud on my TV. Absolutely love that.

Pros
- Fantastic picture quality. Great blacks, very smooth.
- TruMotion, when used for stuff like sports and other high motion video (this is also a con, see below)
- Passive 3D with 2D to 3D makes this usable right out of the box.
- LG Cloud
- Huge collection of Smart TV Apps (Please add Amazon Instant)
- Price. I called and got the price dropped $120 to match BestBuy. Well worth it when you pay no shipping or tax (Prime)

Cons
- No Amazon Instant (at least not on the 47")
- No Magic Remote, which was in the description, but not with the 47" at least.
- TruMotion was on by default. It makes regular TV look kind of like a Soap Opera, that kind of cheesy looking filming, can't think of a better way to explain it. I turned it off.
- Picasa App doesn't seem to work, every time I click on an album the app closes.

Overall, the cons are about what I thought was included based on the description and 1 setting very easily turned off. The TV is a great, inexpensive Smart/3D TV. Nothing really I can complain about. Glad I stuck with LG.

I must admit that I was not sold on getting a 3D TV but I am glad I got this one. It is easy to control and uses regular 3D glasses like in the movies. I saved a couple of glasses from the theatres and they work well with this TV. Picture was bright and sound was good. I mounted it on my wall and it looks great. Does convert 2D to 3D quite well to my surprise. Looked at other models and read the reviews and this one won hands down and I can see why. I use to own a Sony Bravia and that was a disaster. If you are looking for an affordable 3D TV, this is it without costly 3D glasses.

At first, the resolution wouldn't go up. Everything was connected properly but it wasn't upscaling. Then we tried a 3D movie and bam! It was all there, gorgeous. Best image I've ever seen.

After that, it worked right every single time. With iTunes, Netflix, Comcast, Blue Ray... whatever I threw at it, it totally delivered.

Movies and even TV look like a gigantic, moving, well printed photo. Really. And I'm not even talking about 4K content, just HD content, upscaled. Colors are bright, motion is crisp. Can't think of a single criticism.

The 2D to 3D feature is cute - makes regular tv and movies have a certain dimension, mind boggling. A good trick, but probably not worth the hassle of wearing the 3D glasses. Especially if you already need help to see the real world like me. But real 3D movies look impressive, even if you are not a 3D fan, like me. I heard about how you can use the 3D feature and glasses to allow two people to play videogames, full screen (each person using one of the channels. If you are a gamer, go for it. Sounds like fun.

An advice: for your first movie, try Life of Pi and you will be up for a treat.

PS: I have never done a review here. But this one deserves it.

I've been working on my home theatre for about 8 years and now it's complete . Now it's a true theatre. The 84LM9600 is in a word just simply jaw dropping. Me and my friends just keep watching it and saying wow.the other day we watched avatar on it in 3d and it was a better 3d experience than we had at the theatre when it first cme out. It was like watching for the very first time. It makes me want to rewatch my entire bluray collection all over just to see what it will look like on this amazing tv. I am so glad I got this set. It comes with some great per loaded apps like amazon so you can take advantage of amazon prime in a whole new way. If your considering this 4k tv you will not be disappointed. And you will blow your friends away when the see it in action. Everything from breaking bad to football is simply amazing like noting you ever experienced. I couldn't be happier.

I'm thinking of purchasing this TV but LG has not made a firm commitment to 2.0 HDMI for this 4K set as of yet.
Sony has a firmware upgrade and Samsung has a external device that will convert their sets by years end. Panasonic does have their 4K with 2.0 built in their 65 inch set.

THIS TV COULD BECOME OBSOLETE IN ONE YEAR IF LG DOES NOT STAND BEHIND THE STANDARDS OF 4K TO COME!
